The Oman Visa policy is not different from other Asia countries. However, there are also some exceptions. Visa is mandatory for the foreign nationality for a visit to Oman, whether it may be a tourist or student or for other business purposes. Citizens of any nationality can apply for a tourist visa for Oman through the Oman embassy in their nationality. But for a business visa or resident visa, special permission is needed from the Sultanate of Oman.

Oman Visa Policy

There are some countries in the world, do not require a visa to travel to Oman. These countries are the Gulf cooperation council, also known as GCC, which has six members. Oman is one of the members of GCC. So the GCC citizens are allowed to visit, work and stay in the country without a visa.

 The Visa policy of Oman includes special permission for Dubai visa holders, that if a person has the Dubai visa, he/she can visit Oman without actually applying for an Oman visa. This policy is introduced by the agreement between the sultanate of Oman and Dubai to increase visitors' number to the country. 

Diplomats can visit Oman without filing for a visa. In Oman's visa policy, diplomats of some below-mentioned countries can visit and stay in Oman for three months based on passport only without applying for Oman's actual visa.

Electronic visa policy or E-visa policy of Oman

Several countries are eligible for multiple entry E-visa.

Tourist visa: This visa is issued to citizens who are visiting Oman for the sole purpose of traveling. This visa has a total validity of 30 days. The traveler must return to its country before or on the 30th day. This type of visa is not extended.

Business visa: this visa is issued to foreign nationals who want to expand their business by investing in Oman and who have secured a job in any organization or company in Oman. This visa has a validity period of 90, which can be further extended by the sultanate of Oman on the request. This visa is not an Oman employment visa and must not be used for the same.

Mandatory Documents stated in the Oman visa policy 

• Must have a valid visa with a validity of at least six months.
• Valid passport with 90 days of validity.
• Email id and phone number are needed to send the information for the approval of the visa.
• Two colored passport-size photographs must have a white background and should not be older than six months.
• Health insurance coverage.
• Bank statement copy stamped by the bank manager.
• Applicants should not have any security restrictions. 

Oman transit visa policy

When somebody wants to travel from one country to the other and stop changing the flight between the two countries, the traveler has to wait for several hours. It can be 6hours to 72 hours for the next flight. Thus to get a stay permit in the intermediate country transit visa is issued.   

1. Concerned authorities ratified transit visas based on the application provided by the applicant.
2. A Transit visa is only issued if the traveler has the confirmation tickets for all the flights.
3. Traveler must have sufficient bank balance in his/her account to pay of hotel, traveling, and other expenses.
4. National passport with the validity of at least six months and a visa having a minimum of two blank pages.

Document required for a transit visa 

1. Passport size photo minimum 2, the photo must be clear.
2. Valid passports of their nationality with the validity of a minimum of six months.
3. Valid visa of the final destination country with the validity of at least six months.
4. Confirmed flight tickets for arrival and exit.
5. Must not carry any security restrictions.
6. Bank statement.
7. Tourists must have travel insurance.
